PARIS WALKS booksigning - June 2, 2017 from 5 - 9 pm

Suzun Hughes will be signing her new book, PARIS WALKS,  a photographic guide to the hidden shopping streets of Paris, during Art By Night on June 2, 2017, from 5 - 9 pm at the Wilson Hughes gallery. Large scale archival photographs from the book will be exhibited. The event is free and PARIS WALKS is available for purchase, as well as the photographic artwork.

PARIS WALKS is a travel guide and a beautifully presented photographic history of the secret passages and galleries of Paris. The book contains over 100 high- quality photographs as well as detailed information to be used as a walking guide. Nearly 150 of these unique architectural structures were constructed between the late 1700s and the mid-1800s and the majority of them were destroyed between 1853 and 1870 by urban renewal projects. Now only 30 remain and they are often difficult to locate. Walk into the past with this detailed guide to the secret passages and galleries of the City of Lights. Visiting these passages offers an opportunity to experience Paris as it was and as it is now.

Philadelphia-born, longtime San Franciscan and current Virginia resident, Suzun Hughes is an Abstract painter and Fine Art photographer. For six months, between 2011 and 2013, She was a resident at Cité Internationale des Arts, which is located in the Marais district, in the 4th arrondissement of Paris. Cité Internationale des Arts, which opened in 1965, provides housing and studio space for professional artists who want to develop artistic work in France. During this time Suzun both discovered by chance and fell in love with the ancient galleries and passages, and made it a project to photograph every remaining structure and learn their histories. PARIS WALKS represents her love affair with Paris and it is a guide and a tribute to the City of Lights.
